The longer-term thing to watch is whether roofing robots move from prototypes and material handling into actual crew displacement on normal roofs. The local employer's safety culture matters as much as entry speed.
Roofers who do well tend to have stamina, balance, heat tolerance, and comfort working at height while moving material all day. The work suits someone who likes a fast crew rhythm and can stay careful when the roof is steep, hot, windy, or slick. The underexpected demand is not just strength; it is safety discipline. Ladders, fall protection, sharp material, repetitive lifting, and weather exposure make this a harder body trade than many 19-year-olds picture.
