Freelance design helps only when it shows design judgment under constraints. A focused portfolio with briefs, audience, specs, revisions, and production-ready outputs is useful; a pile of random logos or AI-assisted template edits is not. The AI headwind is real on commodity design, so the proof has to show more than output.

Before you bank on it

Build fewer pieces and document them better. If the portfolio does not show the brief, the specs, and why you made the choices, it will be hard to screen as designer proof.
